History

The Pomeranian descends from large Arctic spitz dogs but was miniaturized in the Pomerania region of Europe. Queen Victoria popularized the breed after falling in love with smaller Pomeranians. Over time, they became beloved companion dogs worldwide. In the US, their tiny size, fluffy coat, and lively temperament made them a favorite among households and city dwellers.

Before Buying

Pomeranians are tiny but vocal and need daily grooming. Their fragile size makes them unsuitable for rough play. Prone to dental issues, collapsed trachea, and coat maintenance needs. US owners should consider grooming time, vet bills, barking tendencies, and the necessity of gentle handling.
